THE BRITISH SOCIETY FOR SURGERY OF THE HAND
The British Society for Surgery of the Hand promotes and directs the development of hand surgery, to foster and co-ordinate education, study and research in hand surgery, and to disseminate knowledge of hand surgery among members of the medical and allied health professions.
BSSH is closely involved with the Foundation, and many of the Foundation’s research priorities are relevant to the clinical management of hand surgery patients. The Foundation’s work in tissue regeneration and repair and burns research also have significant relevance to hand surgery patients of the future.
Annually, The Scar Free Foundation and BSSH also jointly fund Student Elective Awards into all areas of hand surgery for medical students. The Foundation also awarded a two-year research Fellowship in hand surgery (on Dupuytren's disease) which was completed in 2010.
