For the past 20 years, our research has contributed to the increasing understanding of the biological processes associated with wound healing and scarring. Our scientific funding has focussed on animals that are able to heal their wounds or regenerate without scars. If we can understand the cellular interplay which controls scar free healing and regeneration in animals, we will be able to compare this to the response in humans, and with time develop targeted interventions and therapies. Our new programme at the University of Bristol combines biological endeavour with population health-based research.
