20 Years of Scar Free

This December marks 20 years since the founding of The Scar Free Foundation (formerly the Healing Foundation). To celebrate this milestone, our Patron HRH The Countess of Wessex kindly hosted an afternoon tea at Buckingham Palace.

The Scar Free Foundation has come a long way since it was first established in 1999, inspired by the late plastic surgeon Mr Michael Brough and founded through the visionary generosity of the British Association for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS). Over this period, we are proud to have enabled more than £50 million of life-changing research into wound healing and scarring conditions. Our Impact Report, which highlights our journey over the last 20 years, is available to download and read below.

We are so grateful to The Countess for her unwavering support and for hosting the reception, which was a memorable afternoon for all. In a room full of Scar Free supporters - both old and new - we toasted the Foundation on its progress so far and, as we look ahead to the future, scar free healing has never felt closer.
