Partnerships and Philanthropy
If you are considering making a major gift, thank you.
Your gift will make a huge difference to people living with scarring. As an investor in scar free research, you will be developing exciting and life-changing treatments. You’ll unlock a greater understanding into why scars form and how we can prevent them during the wound healing process, as well as how to make living with scars easier.
By making a major gift, you are helping to pave the way to a scar free future. A future that has never been closer.
Supporters like you make our research happen, and make scar free healing possible. We value all our supporters and believe it is important that you get the most from your support.
The Impact of your Gift
Conflict Wound Research
The Scar Free Foundation Centre for Conflict Wound Research is the first military and civilian wound research centre of its kind and specifically addresses the challenges in the acute care, long-term impact and psychological effects of gunshot, burn and blast injuries. Your gift to conflict wound research will improve the immediate and long-term recovery of veterans wounded in conflict and civilians injured in terrorist attacks. Your gift will have a profound impact on the veteran community. After risking so much for their country, they deserve a life that is not restricted by their injuries.
UK Burns Research Network
Burn injury is one of the most common forms of trauma worldwide, with approximately four million people in the Western world subject to post-burn scarring each year. 70% are children, where scarring injuries cause additional physical and emotional complications as they grow. The Scar Free Foundation’s UK Burns Research Network is a world leading collaborative and patient focused programme that will help to revolutionise burns care.
Improvements to immediate care mean that more people than ever survive their initial injury, however long-term care and rehabilitation are yet to receive the same levels of progression. This needs to change. Support for our burns research will help us to deliver both short-term improvements in burns care, as well as more long-term scar free benefits to patients.
Patient and Public Involvement
The Scar Free Foundation’s major programme of research takes place across multiple university and hospital sites across the UK. Managing a research programme of this scale, ensuring that it is impact-driven, operates at the highest of standards and our commitment to Patient and Public Involvement, is both complex and resource sensitive.
We involve our scar free Ambassadors – those with a lived experience of scarring – throughout our work, acting as a conduit between our Ambassadors, the 20 million people in the UK with a lived experience of scarring, and the research experts who strive to achieve scar free healing. A donation towards research management will ensure that we can continue to direct high-quality scar free projects with the highest patient benefit.
From our Ambassadors to our researchers, you will see how your support is changing lives, now and in the future.
