Thursday 8 October 2026

We’re very excited to partner with Love Disfigure, founded by burns survivor and award-winning advocate Sylvia Macgregor, for a special evening celebrating scars, strength, resilience and self-acceptance.

The event on Thursday 8 October will bring together people with lived experience of scarring and visible difference, alongside advocates and creatives, for an evening of artistic expression, shared stories and meaningful connection.

Please come along! Contact Sylvia directly to register your place.

🗓️ Thursday 8 October

📍 100 Cannon Street, London, EC4N 6EU

⏰ 6pm-8pm

The evening will be hosted by Robert Dickinson, Head of Fundraising, at The Scar Free Foundation and Sylvia Macgregor of Love Disfigure.

Speakers include:

The programme will also feature readings from Romeo Olukotun and Sue Banda, with photography by Daniela Luquini.

The event will offer a welcoming space to meet others, share experiences, exchange ideas and celebrate the individuality of every person in the room.

For many people, living with a scar is about much more than its physical appearance. Scars can be connected to experiences of injury, illness, surgery or trauma, and may affect how someone feels about themselves, how they are perceived by others, and how confidently people can navigate the world.

This event celebrates the strength, identity and individuality of people living with scars and visible differences, creating an opportunity to challenge assumptions, build understanding, and recognise the value of lived experience.

Through conversation, readings and creative expression, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with people who understand that every scar has its own story.

Together, the contributors will help create an evening centred on personal stories, creativity, self-expression and connection.

For The Scar Free Foundation, the event is an opportunity to celebrate the voices and experiences of people affected by scarring, while continuing to raise awareness of the physical and emotional impact scars can have.

Whether you have personal experience of scarring or visible difference, work in healthcare or research, or simply want to be part of a welcoming evening celebrating individuality and connection, you are warmly invited!

How to attend
